The last of the Muir...
The Muir Project, the most ambitiuous collaboration that we've ever had the pleasure to work on. Last year we partnered with our close friends over at Trakke to create something extra special: a backpack/sling combo, made from custom Challenge Sailcloth fabric and custom Scottish made wool tartan inspired by John Muir himself. These packs sold out lightning fast and since then, users have been reporting in from around the world with photos of their packs on travel and daily adventures.
There was just enough additional fabrics left from our first production to make an extremely limited run of products, all handmade in Trakke's Glasgow, Scotland based workshop, eliminating waste materials while creating very special.
Together we went back to the design drawing board. We carefully selected a handful of our team's and reader's favorite Trakke products to recieve all the bells and whistles of the Muir Project treatment. Then, we bonded our custom tartan with a waxed cotton canvas backer for increased perfornance. And finally, we prototyped each unit until it was absolutely perfect.
Once these products are gone, so are the custom Challange Sailcloth and Lachcarron fabrics, and the Muir Project officially will disappear out into the mountains and forests forever.

Bairn | Muir Project EcoPAK
The first piece we selected for the finale of the Muir Project was an easy one. One of our favorite products made by Trakke, the Bairn. A timeless shoulder bag with near perfect organization – it would be the star of the show. Using our Custom Abrasion Resistant EcoPak Ultra 200XBlaze for the main body fabric, we included panels of our Custom Muir-inspired Tartan for the laptop sleeve and under the front organizer flap. Of course, this version utilizes two AustriAlpin Cobra 25mm buckles for extra security, and because they're awesome. Finally, we added a Velcro black-on-black Trakke x Carryology Muir Project Velcro round patch on the front for a nod to the project and the man himself.

Bairn | Muir Project Tartan
Of course we did 10 of the Muir Project Backpacks back in November, just for fun. And we had to give the Bairn the same all tartan treatment. And in the few months since the last release, the geniuses over at Trakke actually bonded the tartan to a dry finish waxed cotton canvas from Halley Stevensons (Scotland). This gives the tartan both extra strength and durability. These are in extremely limited numbers and will go fast.

Laggan Pro Muir Project
We wanted to bring the Muir Project out into the world via the perfect accessory products, so you could use it as a standalone or in conjunction with your other favorite bags or packs. So Trakke's spin on the tech kit was an obvious and immediate choice for us. Made from our custom ECOPAK fabric and with a massive blast of custom tartan on the front panel, this will keep all your daily EDC bits organized and tidy, while looking awesome. We even added an additional zippered pocket on the backside (versus the open pocket on the standard), for extra security.

Laggan Mini Muir Project
For when the Laggan Pro is just a bit much. We took the same Muir Project build as its bigger brother and to offer you a more compact version, packing a big punch in a small package.

Micro Foulden Pouch Muir Project
Simple, functional, and modular. Trakke's Micro Foulden carries a handful of extra essentials that you don't want getting lost. This was an easy choice to include. Made of our custom ECOPAK fabric with blaze liner and one serious all-metal sling hardware clip. Switch it from your Bairn to your Muir Project Backpack to your pant belt loop while you keep moving towards the calling mountains.

Foulden Packing Cubes Muir Project
You've all seen these before! They weren't even an intentional spoiler. Originally, one set was created to show volume inside of the Muir Project backpack. And once people saw these, the demand for them to become real came in a tidal wave. Admittedly, the first set wasn't actually that useful, as a single layer of tartan just is too floppy to make them useful. So we bonded the custom tartan to some Halley Stevensons dry waxed canvas, providing additional strength and structure to the fabric, and making it able to hold up to the rigors of EDC or travel. Of course we're biased, but these are the coolest looking packing cubes ever made. And they're very functional, too!
