25 May Week in Review: GOkey, Côte&Ciel, and Alite Designs Shine
Bold and bright bags from Alite Designs, understated office-friendly style from Côte&Ciel and possibly one of the most useful EDC items you could own are strutting their stuff in this Week In Review. Could they be carry contenders for your personal collection? Come find out more and decide for yourself…
On-the-go charge and storage
GOkey’s Indiegogo campaign has already smashed its funding goal by over ten times and its popularity may have something to do with the fact that it can charge Android, iPhone 5 and Windows phones on the go or alternatively serve as a USB cable for charging via a USB port, plus it comes with a choice of 8GB, 16GB or 32GB of flash memory for storing the likes of videos, music and photos. GOkey links to your phone via Bluetooth and a GOkey app can be used to find your keys if GOkey is attached to them by making the GOkey ring. GOkey can also be used to find your phone by making it ring. If you’re keen to get one for yourself, check out the Indiegogo campaign here.
Streamlined style from Côte&Ciel
Brands may often take the “more is more” approach when bringing out new products but the memo Côte&Ciel line is the opposite of this. Designed as a lightweight and minimalist collection of carry, the line incorporates four pieces in a choice of two colorways, Deep Forest Green and Midnight Blue. The Zonda Bowler Bag, Kona Business Bag, Calima Tote Bag and Zephyr Backpack are all named after winds in recognition of lightness that doesn’t sacrifice strength.
Anti-hassle duffel and pack
Ever wished you had an extra bag on you because you got a bit too carried away with the holiday souvenir shopping? Looking for some carry you can store easily in your car for grocery trips or a lightweight bag that can hold the essentials for a day of outdoor exploring? Outdoor Research’s Antimatter Duffel and Antimatter Pack are light in weight and small in size when compressed, making them handy additions to your suitcase or carry-on as well as convenient for stashing away in the car or a cupboard until needed. The pack comes in at 9.9oz or 282g, while the 30-liter duffel (also available in 45 liters) weighs 10.5oz or 299g.
Affordable active EDC
A bag that incorporates military-grade hardware and the lastest advances in technical materials gives you plenty to ooh and ahh over – along with a price tag that will have you making plenty of noises too (and not of the favorable variety). More often than not, however, you don’t need these features. You just need a bag that will get from A to B, perhaps with the occasional detour to C, and that won’t take a considerable chunk out of your savings. Well the new Fox Hole backpack from JanSport’s Outside collection is ready to be your bright-eyed (or at least bright colored) and bushy-tailed carry companion. There’s four colorways to choose from, a variety of organization options including a side-access section that will hold a 15-inch laptop or 3-liter hydration system, plus a price tag that won’t break the bank.
Adventure-seeking with Alite
Alite Designs are feeling the summer vibes if their new Rope Series collection is anything to go by. The Timber Hitch Backpack, High Tide Tote and Barrel Bike Bag are bursting with bright colors, tough construction (backed by Alite’s lifetime guarantee) and a let’s-get-out-there-and-have-some-fun attitude. The bike bag can also double as a messenger for some laidback exploration on foot, so there’s something to suit a variety of carry preferences.
