EDC
Prometheus Design Werx SPD Ti-BarT
PDW offers an elegant take on the pocket pry bar with the Ti-BarT. Crafted with 6AL-4V titanium, the pry bar features details such as fine jimping, recessed hardware, and a fully chamfered edge. In addition to a pry bar, it also offers additional tools such as a bottle cap lifter, a hex bit driver integrated into the pocket clip, and an oxygen/gas tank wrench.
The James Brand × Timex Automatic GMT Emerald Edition
Portland-based The James Brand is back with another one of their series of homerun collaborations with watchmaker Timex. They applied their aesthetic to a GMT wristpiece imbued in a jade-link emerald hue this time around. The titanium case has a case diameter of 41mm and is sandwiched in sapphire windows with an AR coating in front and a display back showing off the movement. The Automatic GMT is powered by the Miyota 9075, and you’ll be using a unidirectional bezel to track two additional time zones. It is water resistant to 200 meters and comes with both a titanium bracelet and resin strap attached to 20mm lugs. This watch is limited to 750 units.
Sanctum Titanium Hard Bar Kickstarter
At first glance, it’s difficult to grasp what Sanctum’s first product launch entails. It consists of two parts – the Hard Bar and the Overlord. Starting with the Hard Bar, you have a 5.2” titanium rigid sheath with an integral pocket clip, keychain hole, Ultem insert/window, a carabiner hole, and a main pry bar. Despite being made of lightweight material, the Hard Bar is a solid chunk of metal. What makes the whole package interesting is the Overlord, which is a stainless steel fixed-blade knife with just a 1.6” blade length. The unique feature here is how the knife sheaths into the pry bar via a compliant locking mechanism. It’s super satisfying and almost fidgety. The knife itself features a mini prybar/scraper of its own and a bottle opener at the top. So what’s the star of the show here? Is it the knife that fits in an interesting way into a titanium sheath? Or is it a chunky pry bar hiding a tiny knife when you need something sharper than a wedge? We’re leaning towards the latter here, but regardless of your use case, the Sanctum has you covered.
The James Brand Bolen Twist Pen
The James Brand does an amazing job of advancing each of its categories in step with one another so no one area feels left behind. To that end, they just added the Bolen, a titanium twist-retractable pen, to their stables. The slim design was meant for pocket carry, and the twist mechanism means that there is no need to worry about a cap going missing or an accidental activation with a button. It uses the popular G2 Parker style refills, which are varied and plentiful.
