Best New Gear | November 2022

by , December 1, 2022

From dapper work bags with smarts built in, to surprising collabs and solid new drinkware, these new releases stuck out for all the good reasons in November.

Urban

Bellroy Tokyo Work Bag

Best New Gear - Bellroy Tokyo Work Bag

Inspired by Tokyo’s urban style and clever use of space, the Bellroy Tokyo Work Bag thoughtfully organizes daily work items while its clean and understated style adapts to both formal and more casual workspaces. The wide opening provides easy access to all your gear, while an assortment of interior and exterior slip and zip pockets keep items tidy. Features include a side water bottle pocket and a padded 16″ laptop sleeve, along with multiple carry options including a detachable padded shoulder strap, soft rolled-edge webbing handles, and a luggage handle passthrough. The bag is made with 100% recycled external fabric and linings, eco-tanned leather detailing, and a water-resistant main zipper for peace of mind when showers strike during your commute.

DSPTCH x PSA Capsule Collection

DSPTCH x PSA Capsule Collection

Are you a card collector looking for a sleek and dependable way to carry your precious cargo? You’re in luck with the DSPTCH x PSA Capsule Collection. DSPTCH teamed up with PSA (the biggest trading card, autograph and memorabilia authentication and grading service in the world) to create a customized capsule collection specifically for the modern card collector. The capsule includes the Utility Tote and a new large size of the Unit Sling Pouch, each with customized card slab pockets designed with protection and easy access in mind. Both bags are made in the USA using weatherproof fabric, military-grade hardware, and an adjustable quick-release sling strap.

Mission Workshop x Afterschool Projects Stratus Collection

Mission Workshop x Afterschool Projects Stratus Collection

The creative minds at Mission Workshop in San Francisco have teamed up with the Afterschool Projects team in Los Angeles for their sophomore collaborative efforts. This time, the two companies took inspiration from the organic clouds you might see in the sky and applied it to X10 cotton-faced waterproof fabrics. Each piece is hand-dyed using a special technique developed by ASP.

The star of the collection is the Stratus Rucksack, an 18L backpack with a padded internal laptop sleeve, compressible main storage, exterior pocketing, and water bottle holders on each side. It’s available in three colorways: blue, purple, and black.

You can see this treatment in the rest of the collection as well: the Toro Handlebar Bag, Saccoche, Saccoche Grande, and Small Utility Pouch. In addition to the carry options, fans can pick up a Long Sleeve Tee or water bottle for those workouts.

Outdoors

TS Weller x Roark Run Amok

Best New Gear - TS Weller x Roark Run Amok

The beneficial impacts of exploring nature can’t be overstated. And the collaboration between Roark and Travis Weller, a trail runner and Roark’s artist-in-residence, is a celebration of color and movement while exploring the environment. The collection includes a range of practical and eye-catching pieces to help you move freely and comfortably including running shorts, running tees, an ultralight and packable jacket, and fleece pants. Features such as reflective detailing, four-way stretch, water resistance, and moisture-wicking help keep you safe, comfy and agile on the move, while splashes of color nod to the vibrant inspiration of nature and add some zest to your active excursions.

YETI Yonder Collection

Best New Gear - YETI Yonder Collection

Staying hydrated is important wherever your explorations take you, from hiking trails to rock climbing or fishing. And YETI’s new Yonder™ Drinkware collection helps you stay hydrated while keeping carry weight down. Available in two sizes including 750ml and 1L, the Yonder is YETI’s lightest water bottle yet. But rest assured you still benefit from YETI’s dependable durability with its shatter-resistant and leakproof construction. Available in four colorways including Clear, Seafoam, Navy, and Charcoal, the Yonder™ is a great bottle option for excursions where packing light is a priority.

Travel

Matador Refillable Toothpaste Tubes

Matador Refillable Toothpaste Tubes

Compact toiletries are a key component for many packing lists. And Matador offers a nifty alternative to regular-sized toothpaste tubes with their Refillable Toothpaste Tubes. Rather than having to buy single-use (and often expensive for what you’re getting) travel-friendly toothpaste tubes, these refillable options are easily filled with your regular toothpaste and can be used repeatedly, providing a more eco-friendly approach too.

A heads up: Bellroy and Carryology share the same founders. You can read about our origin story here.

And hey, we’re reader-supported too, so if you find something that sparks your interest and click through and purchase via our affiliate links, sometimes we’ll get a little kickback from the brands or retailers. It helps us to make more content and build this channel. Although, we’ll just point out, some brands don’t have affiliate options, and that’s cool with us too. If the carry is awesome, we recommend it!
